Brunei National Canoe Association will send a kayaking team to compete in the upcoming Labuan International Sea Challenge 2016 to be held at Labuan International Sea Sports Complex from April 29 to May 1.

The team will comprise senior and young paddlers.

According to Major Talip, acting coach of the association, besides seniors, we will also be fielding young paddlers for the event. The team will compete in the men's single, doubles and mixed events. Last year, the team won third place in the men's doubles event.

Major Talip said Brunei paddlers have always finished among the top 10 teams.

The competition will cover a distance of 60km in about six hours around the Labuan islands.

Organised by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, the Labuan International Sea Challenge 2016 is one of the biggest events in Labuan and offers various activities and water sports of international standard such as inter-island swimming competition, round the island kayak paddling for 50km, tug-of-war and cross channel swimming challenge and fishing tournament.
