SMSS Students Toured Supa Save Store

KG MATA-MATA, GADONG

Group of eager preschoolers from Seri Mulia Sarjana School (SMSS) yesterday went on a shopping trip at the Supa Save store in Kg Mata-Mata.

The trip was part of the school's International Primary Curriculum (IPC) Shopping Unit Entry Point Activity to help children be independent and to learn the value of money.

Led by class teachers and their learning assistants, some parents also joined the trip voluntarily to help supervise the group of 60 plus children from three different Kindergarten (KG) 2 classes.

The children were given pocket money by their parents not exceeding $10 for them to spend at the shopping trip.

All hyped up and jubilant, the children chose to spend on sweets and chocolates but were more than happy to oblige when the teachers told them to buy only healthy food and drinks.

Each of the children's face beamed with pride when they were told to pay for their own at the counter under the supervision of teachers and volunteer parents.

"They feel so grown up when given such a responsible task of shopping for what they want and paying for themselves," said teacher Maureen of KG2B and KG2H.

The trip ended with a group photo outside the premises with tired but satisfied children looking forward to share their first shopping experience with their parents at home.
