Islam has regulated matters of morals in a systematic and detailed manner, including the command and duty to treat and respect the elderly especially towards both parents. The matter was stated during the Friday Sermon titled "Caring For The Elderly".

The Imam or Prayer Leader highlighted that as a child, we should patiently serve their orders, never scold, admonish, intimidate, and hit the elderly because such actions will hurt their feelings. Their sacrifices in taking care of and raising us will not be able to repay even with our lives, property and money. Al-Quran has placed the duty of devotion to parents including when they reach old age immediately after the command to believe in Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala and not associate with Him.
