​Striving to earn a halal livelihood is an obligatory in Islamic Law. However, sufficiency is not measured solely by quantity, rather what is important are the blessing within it. The pleasures from the blessings may be felt when used for good and used towards that which pleases Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala. The Friday Sermon touched upon the key of the Door of Sustenance.

The Imam or Prayer Leader said the guidance in obtaining a wide and blessed sustenance is outlined in Al-Quran and hadith of Prophet Muhammad SAW. First, Fear of Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala, namely by obeying all His commands and leaving whatever He forbids. Second, by repenting and reciting istighfar. To repent is regretting what one has done in the past and resolving not to go back to it. Third, tawakal or surrender oneself to the Almighty and hold fast to Him. Fourth, upholding the ties of kinship is also the key of sustenance. Fifth, to increase in giving alms. Accustoming yourself to giving alms is the main key to the expansion of sustenance by Allah.
