The Narcotics Control Bureau continued the 'Operasi Speedo' following the arrest of the main mastermind of the operation on 9th of August. A follow-up operation has been carried out on the 17th of August and to-date, seven individuals aged between 25 to 33 have been arrested, believed to be involved in drug trafficking activities carried out by the syndicate.

During the follow-up operation, 3.74 grams of Syabu, and paraphernalia for drug abuse, were seized as well as several units of mobile phone, debit cards; and a laptop, believed to be used in carrying out drug trafficking activities were also seized. The amount of drugs seized is not significant due to the individuals linked to the syndicate are known to be ready for arrest and do not have the drugs with them.

After further investigation, apart from carrying out drug trafficking activities in Brunei Darussalam, the syndicate also operated by supplying and distributing drugs to students in the country who are studying in several educational institutions in the neighbouring country. One of them was a 24-year-old student who was studying at a university in a neighbouring country. The suspect was arrested by the bureau on 18th of September for being involved in the drug trafficking activities carried out by the syndicate in the neighbouring country.

The Narcotics Control Bureau reminds all citizens, especially students abroad, to stay away from drug abuse and trafficking activities. The Bureau will not hesitate to take action against anyone involved in drug crimes regardless of status and position.
