Musician Ahmad Dhani was released early Saturday morning after being questioned at the headquarters of the National Police’s Mobile Brigade (Brimob) in Depok, West Java, but he remains a suspect for alleged defamation of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
Dhani, who is also a deputy regent candidate in Bekasi, was arrested at Sari Pan Pacific Hotel on Jl. MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta, early Friday morning.
He was questioned along with nine others, including artist Ratna Sarumpaet, politician Sri Bintang Pamungkas and retired Maj. Gen. Kivlan Zein who were arrested separately on Friday, hours before a large-scale rally against Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama at the National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta.
“I was questioned about a meeting on Dec. 30 at the house of Rachmawati,” Dhani said as reported by tribunnews.com, referring to the daughter of the country’s first president Rachmawati Soekarnoputri.
Rachmawati, the sister of former president Megawati Soekarnoputri, was arrested at her home and questioned at the Brimob headquarters for alleged treason.
Dhani was named a suspect due to the content of his speech during the huge rally on Nov. 4.
