Excise Order 2006

A local man was brought before the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court on two charges under the Excise Order 2006.

 

MUHAMMAD HISHAM RIZAL BIN ABDULLAH, aged 22, was arrested in a raid conducted by Customs enforcement officers, Bandar Seri Begawan Branch Operations Unit at a house in Kampung Mulaut Kilanas. In the first operation on 29th February 2022, the accused was found in possession of 22 cartons and 6 packets of cigarettes of various brands. Meanwhile, in another operation conducted on 14th JULY 2022, the accused was found in possession of 65 cartons and 9 packets of cigarettes of various brands.

 

For the first charge, the accused was fined $23,000 or 13 months imprisonment in default. While for the second charge, the accused was fined $66,000 or 16 months imprisonment in default. All contraband were confiscated and handed over to the government to be destroyed. Also seized were cash amounting to 129 Brunei Dollars and 2 Singapore Dollars and handed over to the government for further action.
