Four police officers have denied a charge of assaulting a suspect in a theft case in the Magistrate's Court yesterday.

PC 5807 Muhd Mu'izwan bin Kamran, Cpl 4718 Liew Ghee Chian, Cpl 4473 Herdey anak Bujang and L/Cpl 5371 Muhammad Hafizan bin Abdulkhan allegedly to have voluntarily caused hurt to Inayatullah bin Matasin at 1am on March 14 at Jalan Perayaan, Berakas.

Chief Magistrate Faisal bin Pehin Dato Kefli fixed a trial to run from May 23-28.

All four defendants, unrepresented, have been released on bail of $5,000 or in one local surety.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Shamshuddin Haji Kamaluddin and Prosecuting Officer Ali Amani Nokman appeared on behalf of the Public Prosecutor yesterday.
