The Public Works Department ( JKR), Ministry of Development, has apologised to road users over the occurrence of road settlement along the Muara-Tutong Highway at KM58.2 on both sides of the dual carriageway from Bandar Seri Begawan to Kuala Belait and vice versa.
The problem occurred on Thursday due to pipe jacking activities for the newly laid 1.2m-diametre concrete cladded mild steel water pipeline, according to a statement issued by JKR last night.
The department is undertaking measures for the reinstatement of both the dual carriageway roads. A contractor started carrying out the road overlaying works at 7.30am yesterday to reinstate the road.
The road overlaying works for the dual carriageway from Bandar Seri Begawan to Kuala Belait were expected to be completed by yesterday afternoon. Once completed, road overlaying works for the reinstatement of the dual carriageway from Kuala Belait to Bandar Seri Begawan will start immediately. All the reinstatement works are expected to be completed by the end of the day.
The department apologised for the inconvenience caused and urged drivers to be careful when approaching the affected road and adhere to the speed limit, signboards and traffic signs to prevent any unwanted incidents.
For any complaints, the public can call the Darussalam line at 123 / Live Chat Channel 123 at +6738333123, or contact the department through Facebook: Jabatan Kerja Raya, Negara Brunei Darussalam or e-mail: [email protected].
