The Oil and Gas Discovery Centre (OGDC), a community development flagship of Brunei Shell Petroleum Co Sdn Bhd, recently concluded its three-day Eureka Camp 2016.

The annual camp is organised by OGDC with an objective to create high interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education.

Some 42 participants aged eight to 12 years old from Belait, Tutong and Brunei-Muara districts participated in the camp, engaging in science and mathematics oriented activities.

The participants were exposed to alternative science and mathematics learning methods via hands on, fun and intereactive activities such as the `Logo Making', where students had to come up with their team name, logo and chant. Their creativity were put to test when they were given limited recyclable materials and limited time to come up with their logo.

The campers also did a number of science activities such as the Volcano Eruption, the Coke and Mentos experiment and the Who did it, CSI of Cool Science Department.

The camp also included an outreach visit to Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) and an archaeological site. In UTB, they saw various engineering activities done by the UTB students and lecturers. While at the archaeology site, they visited and learnt about the tombs of the 5th Sultah of Brunei Darussalam, Sultan
