Vampire Diaries Costars Arielle Kebbel and Zach Roerig confirmed their relationship during a recent fan event eight years after the show came to an end.

Eight years after The Vampire Diaries came to its conclusion, costars Arielle Kebbel and Zach Roerig—who played Lexi Branson and Matt Donovan, respectively, on the series—revealed their relationship has taken a turn for the romantic and are now dating.

During an April 6 fan event, as seen in footage shared to social media, Zach surprised a shocked-looking Arielle with a bouquet of flowers at a meet and greet before the pair shared a sweet kiss—much to the joy of the fans present, who clapped and cheered over the reveal.

While Arielle and Zach—who was briefly linked to costar Candice King (Caroline Forbes) during the show’s run—haven’t confirmed how long they’ve been dating, the two previously costarred in Hallmark’s Love in the Great Smoky Mountains: A National Park Romance. In the 2023 movie, the pair played former sweethearts who reunite at an archaeological dig—only to find they’re competing for the same research grant.

But even though Zach and Arielle’s offscreen romance comes years after they briefly shared the screen on The Vampire Diaries—after all, other than a few reappearances, Arielle’s character Lexi was killed off in season one—the pair aren’t the only ones to have found love thanks to the vampire series and its spinoffs.

Not only did Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder take after their characters Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore and date IRL, but Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore) also first married costar Torrey Devitto before dating Phoebe Tonkin, who played Hayley Marshall in the series spinoff The Originals, following his divorce.

Similarly, in 2023 TVD’s Candice confirmed her romance with The Originals actor Steven Krueger.

And in the time since, their romance has continued to blossom. Just take Candice’s celebration post amid the season three premiere of Yellowjackets, in which Steven plays Ben Scott.

“Happy Premierentines Day @stevenakrueger,” Candice captioned a February 14 post of the pair. “Couldn’t imagine a better Valentine’s Day gift. A night out with you in a suit and (FINALLY) the Season 3 premiere of @yellowjackets.”

She continued,” I love the snot rockets out of you and am SO proud of all your hard work this season (even if I think Ben totally did it).”
