Your Honor, Kim Kardashian had an important reason for her absence at the Blue Origin space launch.
In fact, while Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner were in West Texas to support their friend Lauren Sánchez and the five other women (including Gayle King, Katy Perry, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, activist Amanda Nguyen and producer Kerianne Flynn) on their historic space mission April 14, Kim had to sit it out.
“Kim keeps writing us, because she was supposed to be here with us and she’s studying for law school, and she had a big test that she had to take” Kris told Blue Origin from the West Texas launch sight April 14. “Again, something I’m very proud of. But she keeps calling going, ‘I have such FOMO, tell me every minute of it.’ So, it’s very inspirational and we’re proud of the girls every one of them.”
Of the mission crew, Kris continued, “It’s such a brave thing to do.”
Last month, Kim took another step in her aspiring law career, as she completed the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE) on March 31. Still, while Kris—who is also the mother of Kourtney Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Rob Kardashian and Kendall Jenner—celebrated Kim’s latest law school milestone, her eyes were focused on the historic space flight.
“We’re here to support our girlfriend and our friends,” the Kardashians momager said ahead of the crew’s 10 minute and 11 second voyage to space. “And I never thought that we’d be talking to you from a space launched for sure. So, this is a very unique experience, and we’re just so honored to be here to support them and watch this amazing part of history.”
For Khloe, she admitted that she was happy that her and Tristan Thompson 7-year-old daughter, True Thompson would have the opportunity to see such an iconic moment as the mission marked the first all-woman crewed space flight since 1963.
“It’s such a big day in history and it’s so empowering,” the Good American founder said. “Especially my daughter is 7, and just to see something like this.”
Before take-off, Khloe—who were joined by Kris, Lauren’s fiancé Jeff Bezos, Katy’s fiancé Orlando Bloom, and Gayle’s best friend Oprah Winfrey to witness the moment—had some last words.
“Great luck, be present,” Khloe said. “I’m so excited. I love the messaging that we keep receiving from the staff here at Blue Origin is don’t film it through your phones. Look through your eyes, be as present at possible. And I love just being in the moment.”
