Years before Billy Ray Cyrus and Elizabeth Hurley went Instagram official with their romance April 20, the couple starred in a 2022 movie together.

Although the surprising pair shared the first glimpse into their romance with an PDA-packed post celebrating Easter on April 20, they previously crossed paths over three years ago on the set of a movie.

Indeed, Hurley and Cyrus—who shares kids Brandi Cyrus, 37, Trace Cyrus, 36, Miley Cyrus, 32, Braison Cyrus, 30, and Noah Cyrus with ex Trish Cyrus, as well as Christopher Cody Cyrus, 33, with ex Kristin Lucky—first crossed paths while filming the 2022 movie Christmas in Paradise.

In the holiday flick, which is a sequel to Father Christmas is Back, Cyrus joined the cast to play Jimmy Love, a musician who brings Hurley’s Joanna Christmas’ family together to celebrate a meaningful holiday in the Caribbean.

And while Hurley—who shares son Damian Hurley with ex Steve Bing—didn’t go on to date the country singer for a few more years, she did speak highly of working with him, calling it the most “inspiring” part of the film.

“That was a big plus,” Elizabeth told MovieWeb in a 2022 interview. “The opportunity to work with Billy Ray, whom I've long been a fan of—my son was the age where he used to watch Hannah Montana all the time, so of course, I used to watch it with him. I knew Billy Ray really well from that, and of course, some of his music.”

And naturally, Damian already expressed excitement for his mom and Cyrus’ newfound relationship, commenting a heart and a celebration emoji on the couple’s April 20 joint Instagram post.

Cyrus’ romance with Hurley comes just over eight months after he settled his divorce from ex Firerose, whom he married in October 2023. The couple also had a Hannah Montana connection, meeting after Cyrus ran into the Australian singer on the Disney show set while she was auditioning nearby.

Amid their whirlwind romance, the couple collaborated on music, including once for Christmas in Paradise, “Time.”

But while Hurley may not be getting into a recording booth with her country music man, the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer has since opted to collaborate with his kids instead, even recently appearing on son Braison’s charity single “Oh What a Dream We Had” alongside his youngest daughter Noah.

In an interview with People earlier this month, Braison said that his sister and father were “obvious fits” for the Prevent Cancer Foundation benefitting track.
