Becca Kufrin detailed her experience with postpartum anxiety after welcoming her first baby boy, Benson, with husband Thomas Jacobs in 2023.

Becca Kufrin is reflecting on her motherhood journey.

Nearly two years after the Bachelorette alum welcomed her first son, 18-month-old Benson, with husband Thomas Jacobs, 32, she shared how she navigated through her postpartum anxiety while bonding with her newborn. 

“I was not prepared for the lack of sleep, the ever-changing hormones throughout the body, the breastfeeding and the pumping journey,” Kufrin told Momcozy in an April 24 interview. “It definitely took a toll on me, especially those first couple weeks and months. I honestly feel like I blacked out and was just in a fog.”

And though she felt overwhelmed with these massive changes, the 35-year-old noted that Thomas—who she married in October 2023 after two years of dating—kept her grounded during that difficult time.

“He didn’t have the hormones raging through his body,” she continued, “but he was going through everything else with me, which really, really helped.”

As her husband comforted her, Becca continued to notice how much her postpartum affected her emotions. In fact, she revealed that she “cried five times a day, every day” for the first two months of Benny’s birth, which startled her considering she isn’t a “huge crier.”

“I’ve always had anxiety throughout my life, but it was just on a whole new level now that I had another human to take care of,” she explained. “Thomas, at one point was like, ‘Becca, you keep cleaning. You can’t fixate on anything else. When Benny’s sleeping, you need to organize everything. Just take a break.’ And I’m like, ‘I can’t. I can’t turn off my mind.’”

The former Bachelor star eventually took on her husband’s advice, and she realized that consistently keeping their home “neat and tidy” helped her “have some sort of control” as she dealt with her mental health.

“Something I would say to other moms who are suffering from postpartum depression, OCD or anxiety, is [that] you’re not alone,” Becca shared, before revealing that she’s now in a better headspace in her motherhood journey. “It’s been a wild ride, but it’s also been the biggest blessing of my life. I can’t imagine my life without my Benny. I’ve learned to let go of the reins a little bit and be able to ask for help.”
