Over 7,000 people participated in the Maulidur Rasul procession in the Tutong District yesterday.
The participants were divided into 39 groups comprising community leaders, uniformed personnel government officers and staff teachers, schoolchildren, members of associations and community members.

Deputy Minister of Finance Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hisham bin Haji Mohd Hanifah was guest of honour at the event.

Also present was Tutong District Officer Shamsul Bahrin bin Haji Mohd Hussain in his capacity as chairman of the event.

Before setting off from the grounds of the Muda Hashim Primary School, the male participants began with a mass recitation of the Surah Al-Fatihah led by Mohd Fauzi bin Haji Mohd Annuar, the Head Imam of the Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Pekan Tutong.

Meanwhile, the women departed from a separate venue, at the Tutong Civic Centre Complex.

The annual Maulidur Rasul procession on the 12th day of Rabiulawal is one of the most important events in the Islamic calendar, celebrating the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
