Students join Belait mini marathon

Thirty students from across the rural area of the Belait District displayed sportsmanship during a mini marathon starting at Merangking Primary School recently.

In the boy’s category, Muhd Hafizzuddin Azeen bin Md Hairul Azzam and Md Hazly Hazwawn bin Abd Razak from Merangking Primary School finished in first and second places, while Tory Jasper Kayan Ak Thomas Tandang from Labi Primary School was placed third.

In the girls’ category, Izzatul Aisyah binti Haji Hazman was placed first, followed by Nur Liana Damia binti Md Nur Azlan from Labi Primary School and Nur Adeera Shareefa binti Haerul Azzam from Merangking Primary School in second and third places.

Among the schools that participated were Merangking Primary School, Labi Primary School and Chung Hwa Primary School Labi.

Legislative Council member and Village Head of Kampong Bukit Sawat Yang Berhormat Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann was the guest of honour.

Acting Village Head of Kampong Merangking Raimey bin Abdullah, school principals, teachers, parents and guardians also attended.

The event began with a warm-up session, followed by a short briefing before the students lined up for the mini marathon, which saw them walking along a route totalling two kilometres. – Daniel Lim
