'Operasi Panyap'

Four foreign nationals were detained and brought to the Law Enforcement Division for further investigation, for committing the offence of overstaying in the country after their immigration pass had expired. The offences were found during the 'Operasi Panyap' carried out by the Law Enforcement Division, Immigration and National Registration Department, targeting houses and rental rooms in Mukim Kota Batu, Sengkurong and Mukim Berakas 'A'.
One of the detained was believed to have been working using a visitor's pass. Another one, was believed to have committed the offence of working not with the original employer.
Meanwhile, 3 foreign nationals were sentenced the offence under Section 15(1) of the Immigration Act, Chapter 17, for overstaying in the country after their immigration passes had expired. Zahedul Islam, a Bangladeshi was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment and 3 strokes of whippings after pleading guilty. The sentence took effect on the 14th of May 2025.
Meanwhile, Yanti Edah binti Nasanah Arsadi, an Indonesian was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment and a fine of $1,000 after pleading guilty to overstaying in the country. She failed to pay the fine which was then replaced with an additional 1 month imprisonment, bringing the total period of imprisonment to 7 months. The sentence took effect on the 5th of June 2025.
Meanwhile, Sanuri, an Indonesian was sentenced to 8 months imprisonment and 3 strokes of whippings after pleading guilty. The sentence took effect on the 5th of June 2025.
