In the morning, the Brunei Business Conference 2025 presented a keynote address titled "Unlocking New Engines of Growth" from the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin said economic growth is a pre-requisite for national progress, underpinning efforts to reduce poverty, elevate living standards, and enhance the nation's global competitiveness. Hence, growth can be driven by a broad and multifaceted set of factors, such as the effective use of natural resources, investments in human capital and modern infrastructure, and political stability. According to the Minister, technology can boost productivity and create entirely new industries at its fullest reach, by driving innovation, increasing productivity, and fostering new markets and industries. Yang Berhormat the Minister added that Brunei Darussalam is strategically located in one of the world's fastest-growing regions, offering significant opportunities for growth in deep-tech sectors.

 

In her remarks, Doctor Hajah May Fae'zah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin, Permanent Secretary for Economy, Trade and Industry at the Ministry of Finance and Economy among others shared the country's achievement in the past few years. Themed "Building a Future-Ready Economy: Investment, Innovation and Inclusive Growth", the Conference convened senior policymakers, business leaders, and regional partners for a one-day strategic dialogue on Brunei's economic transformation and its role in a rapidly evolving regional and global landscape.
