The dismembered body of a missing Filipino as found at the mangrove area in Kampung Sabah Baru, yesterday.

The body of Alnajil Sambutuk, in his 30’s, was found by a search and rescue team at about 12.04pm.

District Fire and Rescue Department chief, Mohd Apandi Mahmood said the search and rescue operation started at 9.42am.

“The victim’s body was found in the mangrove area not far from the area where he was reported missing on Sunday.

“Alnajil’s body was found with part of his stomach and right arm missing believed to have been eaten by the crocodile,” said Apandi when contacted yesterday.

The victim, who went fishing at the area, was reported missing on Sunday at about 4pm after he failed to return home.

Apandi said a search and rescue operation was immediately launched after his department was alerted on the incident and ended after the victim was found.

This was the second incident involving a crocodile attack within a month.

On November 30, a government pensioner was killed, also believed attacked by a crocodile while diving and spear-gun fishing in the waters near Palm Oil Industrial Cluster (POIC) bridge.
