Better Statistics To Help Assess Progress Of Socio-Economic Development

VIENTIANE

 

(KPL) A nationwide meeting of the National Statistical Centre was held in Vientiane Capital on Jan 26 to summarize its work over the past year and discuss the future development plan.

 

“Over the year, the National Statistical Centre provided accurate statistical information to the general public, which was a great contribution to the performance of socio-economic development of our country,” said Head of National Statistical Centre, Mr Samaichan Boupha.

 

“During the meeting, participants frankly discussed and exchanged lessons on statistical work and the development strategy of the National Statistical System to ensure the best quality and quantity, which will be used to monitor the progress of the implementation the eighth-five year socio-economic development plan (2016-2020),” said Mr Samaichan. Adding that, “In the future, we will produce international-grade high-quality statistical information to serve the society in order to use it to create development plans moving forward.

 

The centre is preparing indicators of Sustainable Development Goal progress to monitor each indicator of SDGs in every period to help assess our country’s progress in graduating from Least Developed Status by 2020.
