A twenty-seven-year-old local man was ordered by the Magistrate's Court to pay a fine of BND$3,000, or to serve six months in jail in default, after he pleaded guilty to assaulting his wife.

Mohammad Faizal bin Awang Burot @ Karim, gripped his 30-year-old wife's wrist, punched her arm and hit her on the head repeatedly while they were in a car at The Airport Mall in Berakas at 12.45pm on March 22.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Sharon Yeo conducted the prosecution of the case, which was heard before Magistrate Hajah Ervy Sufitriana binti Haji Abdul Rahman.
