A brace from Elias Fernandes helped Perak win 3-2 at Terengganu on Tuesday evening, a first victory of the 2016 Malaysia Super League (MSL) season for the team from Ipoh.
In an action-packed 90 minutes at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium on the east coast, Perak hung on for what could be a vital three points.
Fazruk Hazli put Perak ahead midway through the first half with his first goal of the season.
Soon after, however, Issey Nakajima-Farran equalised for Terengganu from the spot.
Ten minutes after the restart, Elias also converted a penalty and added his second and the team's third after 63 minutes. It was the fourth goal in the last three games from the Brazilian.
Canadian international Nakajima-Farran pulled one back for the Turtles four minutes from time to ensure a tense final period for the visitors.
But, while Terengganu pushed for the equaliser, it was Perak who took the points.
Perak move up to ninth in the table while Terengganu's third successive defeat sees the highly rated team in eighth.
The rest of the league are in action on Wednesday evening. Leaders Felda United host PDRM while Johor Darul Ta'zim, in second, will take on Sarawak.
