Strategic Plan Reviewed, Legislative Council Meet

Three main focuses, namely slow global economic growth, unpredictable geopolitical situation, as well as globalisation and regional and international security aspect are given attention in the review of the Ministry of Home Affairs' Strategic Plan.
The review of the Strategic Plan enables the Ministry to evaluate existing and new programmes, initiatives and services for upgrading and further action. According to the Minister of Home Affairs, the review is always aligned to the aspiration of Wawasan Brunei 2035, especially in improving the quality of the people's life. Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doktor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong stated this while chairing a Meeting with Members of the Legislative Council yesterday morning.
Among other matters, Yang Berhormat Pehin said the review process involves laws on the implementation of the existing Ministry's scope of work and responsibilities, covering more than 60 Acts and Orders. Taking into account current changes, the Acts and Orders continues to be scrutinised for any possible amendment and appropriate additional provisions in-line with current developments. Apart from that, several newly identified and essential legislations are being drafted. Yang Berhormat Pehin added undeniably in implementing the Ministry's work-scope, there are major challenges that need to be addressed. These include ensuring the methods and procedures of delivering services to the public are always relevant and customer friendly, efficient and fulfil the objectives of the service in-line with the Client's Charter, TPOR.
A briefing on the main role of the Ministry of Home Affairs, covering its vision, mission and structure geared towards accomplishing Wawasan 2035 was presented by Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs

The meeting was an avenue for sharing shared vision and aspiration to consolidate interests, values and benefits for the country's citizens and residents. The meeting was a manifestation of the solid understanding, consensus and cooperation between the Government and the people. The Members of the Legislative Council were led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Putera Maharaja Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Ghani bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Dewa Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Rahim.
