 February 28th, 2017  |  08:46 AM  |   897 views

BANGAR, TEMBURONG

The entrepreneurs, importers and exporters of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry commodities have been reminded to obey the processes for both the private and commercial import and export of those commodities. They have been told to obey conditions implemented by the relevant Government enforcement agencies at the land posts, the airport and ports.

The call was made during the Public Awareness Roadshow on the import and export of agriculture, fisheries and forestry commodities organised by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism.  The roadshow took place yesterday at the Multi-purpose Hall of the Bumiputra Complex in Bangar Town, Temburong.

In attendance were Yang Berhormat Members of the Legislative Council, representatives of Government Departments and Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry entrepreneurs.  The briefing was conducted by officers of the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism.  The session explained procedures and regulations on the import and export of agriculture, fisheries and forestry commodities including related items such as fertilisers, chemical poisons, fodder and others.  Wanidawati Tamat, a Fisheries Officer said there has been reports of non-compliance, hence the need to inform the public on the regulations and procedures.

Among other things, the roadshow intended to raise awareness on the safety level of food among the public. It is also to ensure there are no negative threats to the local agriculture, fisheries and forestry manufacturing industry.
