Heavy Vehicle Driver Course In Demand

The courses offered by the Youth Development Centre, PPB, not only equips the trainees with skills in certain fields, but can also fulfil the demand in the job market. The Heavy Vehicle Driver Course is among the skills with the market demand from local companies. For the 6th Intake of the Heavy Vehicle Driver course, 25 trainees completed their training.

 

Certificates were presented by Awang Haji Amiruddin bin Haji Mohammad Hassan, Director of Administration and Finance, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. The course is divided into two namely a 2-month skills training at the Youth Development Centre as well as a 3-month Work Attachment Programme. During the course, trainees undergo an intensive driving course in various types of heavy vehicles to obtain classes 2, 4, 5, 6 and 11 driving licences. The function continued with a presentation of certificates of appreciation to the government and private agencies involved in the work attachment programme.

 

Meanwhile, 14 trainees were selected to sign contract agreements with several private companies. The involvement of the trainees in the course shows that the number of heavy vehicle drivers amongst locals is increasing. A number of trainees stated that the training gained from the course teaches them to drive in a more disciplined manner as well as adhering to the traffic regulations.
