A man who survived a vicious crocodile attack has now put his story on video.
Rudy Francis Angkanon, 35, lost his right hand and right leg in the horrifying incident on Feb 20.
The Star had earlier reported that Rudy was about to feed the 60-year-old crocodile at the Sandakan Crocodile Farm when it grabbed his right leg and mangled his right arm.
The video titled I Survived a Crocodile Attack came out as he recovers at the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sandakan.
The narrative of the video said he was on a routine feeding duty of the crocodiles at the farm when he was taken by surprise.
The reptile lunged at Rudy’s right arm and locked its jaws as it dragged him into the knee-deep pond and began its death roll, the narrative stated.
“Rudy quickly positioned himself by hugging the underbelly of the reptile to avoid further bites, and away from its threatening tail.
“During the struggle, he scrambled to find the crocodile’s eye and gouged it as hard as he could. The reptile released its lock on Rudy’s right arm,” the video narrator said.
Farm workers rushed to help when they heard Rudy’s screams.
They used various implements to chase the animal away.
However, when he was scrambling out of the pond, he slipped and the crocodile lunged again and snapped his right leg and pulled him back into the pond.
“A tug-of-war between crocodile and farm hands ensued.
“Rudy decided saving his life far outweighed his right leg, which by then was almost severed by the force of the crocodile’s bite,” said the narrator.
Rudy was pulled to safety, but his leg was dismembered from the knee joint.
He was then rushed to hospital and later suffered a heart attack.
Many had thought he would lose his life after the attack.
But his family and friends said that he remains high-spirited and jovial despite losing his limbs.
Rudy is married to Nur Aisa Hatta and has a two-year-old daughter Dahlia.
The over five-minute video was posted on YouTube.
