(KPL) The Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare held on Mar 1-2 a training workshop to promote professional and leadership roles for women.

Discussion and lessons learned are centred on several topics: lecturing and presentation skills, techniques for organizing meetings, and leadership skills.

“The opening of this seminar constitutes a progressive step for female staff at the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare as it will help them build up their knowledge on the topics of this training workshop which aim to enable them to fulfil the requirements of political work in the new era,” said Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Mrs Baykham Khattiya.

“The Party and government of Laos always attach importance to creating favourable conditions for the multi-ethnic Lao women to gain an access to education, raise their political theoretical levels and gain vocational skills.  As a result, the management of the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare stands ready to provide women of all different walks of life an opportunity to develop so that they can exert a greater role in society,” said Mrs Baykham.

“I would like to ask all you ladies present at this seminar to be more active in fulfilling the motto of ‘Good Development’ and actively participate in translating the plan of the Lao Women’s Union of the ministry into reality, building up your roles, accumulating lessons as much as you can so you can apply them to the responsibilities you have been assigned in an effective manner,” said Mrs Baykham.

The workshop also highlighted the tradition of dedication and hard work by the members of the Lao Women’s Union during the time national liberation and during the current national development.

“Our female fighters displayed heroic dedication as they worked side by side with their male counterparts in fulfilling the revolutionary tasks in decades past. Since then they have nurtured such revolutionary tradition,” said Mrs Keo Chanthavixay, President of the Lao Women’s Union of the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare.
