UNISSA Organises Economy and Islamic Finance Premier Forum

Current issues pertaining to economic development and Islamic finance were discussed during a Premier Forum organised by the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA. The forum carried the theme "Pemerkasaan Ekonomi dan Kewangan Islam Menjamin Keutuhan Ummah", which aimed to increase the participant's knowledge and understanding on issues related to the economy and Islamic finance.

 

The forum, which involved 200 participants, was managed by Doctor Emir Hrnjic', Chief Executive Officer of the Centre of Islamic Banking, Finance and Management, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Awang Mubashar Khokhar, Management Director of Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) and Professor Doctor Abdul Ghafar bin Ismail from UNISSA. The forum among other things provides knowledge to understand the contemporary economic development and Islamic finance as well as its issues. In attendance were Awang Yusof bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Management Director of Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) and Doctor Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, the Rector of UNISSA.

 

The function ran concurrently with the Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony between UNISSA and CIBFM. Signing on behalf of UNISSA was Doctor Abdul Nasir bin Haji Abdul Rani, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Islamic Finance, while CIBFM was represented by its Executive Officer, Doctor Emir Hrnjic'.  The MOU is an initiative from both parties to further strengthen the long existing relation.
