Many Vientiane residents joined a blood donation campaign to mark the two year anniversary of Vientiane Center Shopping Center in Vientiane Capital on March 28.

The blood donation campaign aims to raise public awareness and encourage them to donate blood to help road accident victims and keep a stock of blood for emergency cases, said the Director General of the Vientiane Center, Mr Sombat Siriphonwitaya.

He said that the Vientiane Center has seen the importance of helping society and wishes to be a part of mobilising the public to participate in blood donation to save lives.

Currently, there remains a need for additional blood for patients with dengue fever and victims of road accidents, said the Vice President of the Lao Red Cross Society, Dr Sing Menolath.

The blood will also help to save the lives of mothers, babies, and others who are in need of blood.

Dr Sing said that the blood donation activity was a meaningful event that was not just held that day, but also for raising awareness in society to see the importance of donating blood.
