The Fire and rescue Department is still investigating the cause of the fire that damaged the Kampung Mentiri National Housing Scheme Mosque early yesterday morning. The severe damage from the fire has caused the mosque to be unsafe for use.

Following the incidence, the Kampung Mentiri National Housing Scheme Mosque is closed temporarily. Residents and congregants from the surrounding area can use nearby mosques while repair works are carried out. According to the Fire and Rescue Department, immediately after receiving the emergency call at 2:11 in the morning, fire and rescue personnel rushed to the site to put out the fire. 27 personnel from the Mentiri, Muara, Bandar Seri Begawan, Lambak Fire Stations and the Women's Operation Unit were able to contain the fire in 42 minutes.
