A delegation from Princess Naradhiwas University (PNU) led by its President Assistant Professor Dr. Rossukon Sangmanee visited Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) recently.

PNU is a government-run university in Thailand established in 2005. It offers Bachelor degrees and Master degrees under 11 faculties.

This includes the Institute of Islamic Study and Arabic Language. This was the first visit by the PNU delegation to Brunei Darussalam.

The meeting with the delegation was chaired by Dr. Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, Rector of UNISSA.

The event was also attended by Dr. Haji Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Ahmad, Deputy Rector of UNISSA and other senior officers of the university.

The opportunity was a platform for both institutions to assess the possibility of collaboration and working relations in various fields.

Among the matters discussed during the meeting was cooperation in raising Arabic language proficiency capability of PNU students, and in this context, PNU hopes to send its students to undertake programmes offered at UNISSA through its Centre for Promotion of Knowledge and Language.

UNISSA has recently accepted students from the College of Islamic Studies, Prince Songkla University, Southern Thailand at the Centre for Promotion of Knowledge and Language for one semester.

Other than sharpening their Arabic language proficiency, they also undertook courses such as Hafazan Al-Quran, courses under the Faculty of Usuluddin, Faculty of Shariah and Law and Arabic Language and Islamic Civilisation.
