Dayang Siti Khadijah binti Mohammad Asnawi emerged champion in the Brunei Muara District Level Story Telling Contest 2017, THIS MORNING. The pupil from Dato Ratna Haji Mohd Jaafar Primary School in Kiarong told the story entitled Ratapan Anak Tiri or the Cries of a Step-Child.

10 participants aged between 8 and 11 years took part in the contest. The contest is an annual project of the Library Section, Language and Literature Bureau. The contest aimed to cultivate reading amongst children and to use stories as a source of their imagination and inspiration to generate creativity during story-telling and have confidence in public-speaking. Present was Yang Berhormat Awang Naim bin Haji Khamis, Member of the Legislative Council who is also the Penghulu of Mukim Kota Batu.
