The Brunei Darussalam Former Soldiers Association celebrates its 25th anniversary this year with a reading of Surah Yasin, Tahlil and Doa Arwah ceremony for the late parents of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Saadul Khairi Waddien; and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit. The function took place yesterday at the Royal Mausoleum in the capital.

Among those in attendance was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. The reading of Surah Yasin, Tahlil and Doa Arwah was led by Awang Khairul Azmi bin Haji Salleh, the Imam or prayer leader of the Defence Academy Surau. Also present were Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Dato Paduka Raja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Shari bin Ahmad, president of the association as well as former commanders of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and members of the association.
