To Promote and expand local production of goods, students from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) are currently organising a three-day seminar and exhibition at Dermaga Diraja in the capital.
The event, held as part of the academic module themed 'Halal, Good and Blessed Traditional Industry' under the Academy of Brunei Studies (APB), aims to provide a better understanding of the Sultanate's socio-economic scenario. In addition, it seeks to compare Brunei's industrial progress with the region.
Attending the opening day yesterday as guest of honour was Acting Brunei-Muara District Officer, Awang Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim. UBD lecturer Awang Mohammad Rafee bin Haji Shahif and event chairperson Awang Ali Yusri were also present.
The module - 'Brunei Traditional Industry'- undertaken by 24 participating students aims to raise awareness on the importance of traditional industries, including their history; current developments and future goals.
Several faculties have joined the module under the guidance of Brunei Education Academy lecturer, Mohammad Rafee.
Each student is tasked with performing extensive research and analysis for their project - that is to produce a report that contributes to the development and success of Brunei's traditional industry, along with issues faced by communities that undertake such industries.
At the event, 24 booths will showcase the students' projects in the form of foods, handicraft and livestock.
