A total of 18 officers and staff of the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism and departments under it have been awarded the Pingat Kerja Lama or Long Service Medal in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam's 70th Birthday Anniversary for the year 2016. The ceremony was held this afternoon at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism.
The medals were presented by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong, the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism. The award is an honour and appreciation from His Majesty's government to the recipients for their services and contributions. Serving with full dedication and being highly disciplined in carrying out their responsibilities and trust were among the qualities of the recipients.
The ceremony coincided with Isra' Mi'raj Celebration and was further enlivened with a special talk entitled Integrity in Civil Service. Professor Doctor Abdul Ghafar bin Ismail from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali, UNISSA explained that economic crime involving misconduct of public servants reflects bad discipline and performance in the civil service. The talk aimed to provide lessons to the ministry's personnel towards shaping a noble character and enhanced personality in carrying out their duties and responsibilities as government officers and staff.
