The official welcoming ceremony for His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain was held at Istana Nurul Iman. During the ceremony, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam received a courtesy call from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.

Along the route leading to Istana Nurul Iman students waved miniature national flags of Brunei Darussalam and the Kingdom of Bahrain to welcome His Majesty King Hamad, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain. His Majesty King Hamad's State Visit further enhances the close relation between Brunei Darussalam and Bahrain.

Upon arrival at Istana Nurul Iman, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and His Majesty King Hamad proceeded to the Royal Dais to receive the Royal Salute. The national anthems of both countries were played, followed by a twenty-one Gun Salute. The two leaders then inspected the Royal Guard of Honour mounted by personnel of the Royal Brunei Land Forces.

His Majesty King Hamad was then introduced to members of the Royal Family, State Dignitaries, the Speaker of the Legislative Council, the Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers, the Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Foreign Envoys in Brunei Darussalam, Members of the Legislative Council as well as Permanent Secretaries at the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was then introduced to His Majesty King Hamad's delegation which included members of the Royal Family of Bahrain, cabinet ministers and senior officials of ministerial rank.

The courtesy call was held Cheradi Laila Kenchana. Also present were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Wakeel, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, as well as other members of the Royal Family. Also in-attendance was members of the Royal Family of the Kingdom of Bahrain, cabinet ministers and senior officials of ministerial rank.

At the Ceremony, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam conferred Brunei Darussalam's highest state decoration, The Royal Family Order of the Crown of Brunei, D.K.M.B., to His Majesty King Hamad. Doa Selamat was read Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

Brunei Darussalam opened its diplomatic mission in Manama in June, 2001. Few years ago, several high level visits to Bahrain were made including His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's visit in 1988 and 2000. After the courtesy call, His Majesty King Hamad departed for The Empire Hotel and Country Club, accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, as the Royal-in-Attendance. His Majesty King Hamad, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain's State Visit will certainly become historic and significant relations of both Islamic nations.
