Judo Exchange Programme

Members of the public, especially sports enthusiasts now have a chance to learn the techniques and basic movements of the Japanese Martial Art, Judo during the "Japan-ASEAN Jita-Kyoei Project" Judo Exchange Programme next week. The 4-day programme, which is organised by the Japanese Embassy in the country in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Japan Foundation Asia Center and Kodokan Judo Institute, will begin next Monday. Information about the programme was shared during a media conference held this afternoon.

 

According to Junko Kurihara, the First Secretary of the Information, Culture and Education Division at the Japanese Embassy, the programme will be able to contribute to the development of health and welfare of residents in the country, as well as foster closer understanding between both countries.

 

Meanwhile, Awang Zafri bin Haji Mohamed, the Acting Director of Youth and Sports, explained that the judo profile session will be held from next Monday until Wednesday, while the Judo demonstration will be held on Tuesday starting from 9 in the morning at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas. The Judo demonstration will be presented by two teaching staff from the Kodokan Judo Institute. A Judo trial session will also involve students from several secondary schools in the country.
