The Language and Literature Bureau has progressed a step further with the launch of E-Perpustakaan or E-Library as an E-Government project of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. E-Perpustakaan is a system which uses a management system to network 14 libraries equipped with portal, portfolio, hardware and envisionare.
The project was launched by Datin Paduka Doctor Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. E-Perpustakaan provides to the users the choice of either borrowing and returning reading materials at the counter or using the kiosk and bookdrop. Nine branches of the Language and Literature Bureau's libraries are involved in the E-Perpustakaan project with libraries of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Attorney General's Chambers, the Islamic Da'wah Centre, the Brunei Museums Department and Brunei History Centre.
