Orphaned Siblings House Restored In Collaborative Project By JAPEM

Agencies in the country continue their efforts in assisting members of the community in need. This morning, the Community Development Department held a Doa Kesyukuran and Tahlil for a project in repairing a house belonging to two orphans involved in a fire in November last year. The previous owners of the house, Allahyarham Haji Azalani bin Haji Sulaiman and Allahyarham Norita binti Laisah, passed away as a result of a road accident in 2007, leaving two daughters aged 14 and 12 years.
The housing aid certificate was presented by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohamad Yusof, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. Also present were Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Mohamed bin Pengiran Haji Osman alias Othman, a Member of the Legislative Council, who is also the Ketua of Kampung Masjid Lama, Pekan Muara, Sabun and Pelumpong; Awang Haji Noor Jusmin bin Haji Abdul Samad, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Yuth and Sports, Awang Haji Mohammad Sunaidi bin Haji Buntar, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Awang Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim, the Acting Brunei Muara District Officer.
The repairwork on the house has been completed. The two orphans, Dayang Nurhanisah Batrisyia binti Haji Azalani and Dayang Nurfaizah Batrisyia binti Haji Azalani now live in the house with their aunt as their guardian, Dayang Azizah binti Haji Sulaiman, a widow, with four children.
This integrated project is an initiative of the Community Development Department in building and repairing homes for a specific group of people, involving various government and non-government agencies as well as members of the community.
