Vice President Phankham Viphavanh, accompanied by his delegation on May 12, visited the Rasavong Company Memorial (a memorial built in honour of the Rasavong army company) in Xiengkhor district, Huaphan province.

The delegation’s visit to the military company was made during the vice president’s working visit to Huaphanh province on May 11-12.

The Vice President and his delegation were warmly welcomed by Huaphan Governor Vanxay Phengsoumma along with his delegation and the contractor company.

During the visit, Vice President was briefed on the construction of the memorial. Its construction work was begun in June 2015 and was invested in and carried out by the Duangphasuk Road-Bridge Construction Maintenance Company (DPS) with a total investment of almost 114 billion kip (US$ 13.847 million).

Manager of DPS Khamla Duangphasuk told the Vice President that the project construction was completed ten months ahead of the set plan.

He explained that the project includes the installation of electricity and water supply systems, the construction of the statue of late President Kaysone Phomvihane and other 25 late leaders, the Rasavong Company tradition hall, a worship hall, a flower garden, a fountain, a yard, the gate, roads, an airport to accommodate leaders’ helicopters, an office and dormitory for staff, a parking lot, four halls for relaxation and entertainment and a weir, as well as the restoration of that Mae cave.

After being briefed about the construction progress, Vice President Phankham praised the contractor for its dedication to the construction of the memorial and its ability to finish the construction ahead of schedule by ten months.

He suggested the company to protect the nature along the road to the cave and the memorial in order to make it a historical site for learning by tourists and future generations.

The Rasavong Company Memorial is located in Mae Cave in the Laohoung-Phiangsa area, approximately 130 km from Huaphanh city.

A handover ceremony and celebration of the newly built Rasavong Company Memorial is expected to be held soon.
