BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Ramadhan Al-Mubarak is a holy month full of blessings, rewards and forgiveness. Muslims should take the opportunity to enhance their religious deeds in order to receive rewards from Allah Subhannahu Wa Taala. Apart from multiplying religious practices such as performing sunat or commendable prayers, Quran-reading and giving alms, continuous health care must also be maintained while we are fasting. These were among the matters highlighted in the Friday Sermon today.

In the sermon, the imam added that being in good health; we can perform the religious fasting as well as other religious acts such as performing the solat terawih, qiamulail, reading Al-Quran, and iktikaf. Other health care practices that should be given attention to during the month of Ramadhan are to ensure that all food to be taken for the breaking of fast is clean and halal. Those involved in food preparation either for their own consumption or business, make sure that the food served is from halal sources. Food entrepreneurs must bear in mind that they are doing business not only for profit but also to gain blessings of halal sustenance. Aside from that, during Ramadhan, Muslims are also reminded to keep a healthy and balanced diet and have an affordable and moderate amount of food for the breaking of fast and sahur. Drinking a lot of plain water is good and it is also commendable for us to take sahur or pre-dawn meal to gain blessings. Also during Ramadhan we should continue to carry out our daily physical exercises or work as much as possible. Fasting is also a useful training for one to stop the smoking habit. Islam strongly forbids its followers from resorting to anything harmful.
