Jalinan Kasih Belia Programme

 May 28th, 2017  |  06:35 AM  |   800 views

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

In conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan, the Youth and Sports Department has taken a noble initiative by organising the 'Jalinan Kasih Belia' programme which aims to assist low-income groups. The programme is hoped to produce youths who are excellent not only academically but also possess traits such as being helpful and generous especially to those in need.

The programme, which is carried out for the 6th time, gathers around 50 youth volunteers. Assisted by a number of chefs, the volunteers produce several types of cakes and biscuits which will be donated to low income groups in the Brunei Muara district. The ingredients used to make the cakes and biscuits and their packaging have been provided by several agencies as well as private individuals.

The support shown by the volunteers towards the programme has been very encouraging. Altogether, they have produced 82 containers of Kuih Mor, 150 containers of Cornflakes biscuits and 110 containers of Oreo biscuits. The cakes and biscuits will be distributed on the second and third week of Ramadan to 40 families from among the low-income group, as well as families with many dependents. The programme represents a way for the volunteers to be involved, where they will be able to perform charitable acts and also gain useful experience at the same time.
