The Kampung Sungai Akar village consultative council and members of the Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah mosque takmir committee this morning launched the reading of the 50 times Khatam Al-Quran ceremony in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's accession to the throne.

The ceremony began with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Ali bin Pengiran Maon, a member of the legislative council. The reading of Al-Quran from the second Juzuk was led by Awang Haji Muhammad Sa'dullah bin Haji Salleh, the mosque's Imam. More than 100 people, comprising residents of Kampung Sungai Akar and its surroundings took part in the Khatam ceremony. The Khatam Al-Quran closing ceremony will be held in September, while monitoring of readings will be held twice a month. Present was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, who is also the Patron of the Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah mosque takmir.
