The Royal Brunei Armed Forces, RBAF's vision is to produce a military force that is efficient and responsive in using resource while its mission is to defend the sovereignty, the strength of the territory and upholding the constitution and Malay Islamic Monarchy concept. This year, in its 56th year, the RBAF as the pillar of defence,  has gone through a number of changes and developments in carrying out its role namely with the importance of possessing an effective leadership performance in heading a defence force that is strong and effective as preparation in facing any threats.

Various important development moments have been realised covering human resource development, capability, defence diplomacy cooperation as well as involvement in regional and international operations. The military capability of the RBAF is always at a high level, of which efforts towards capability enhancement is running smoothly covering military equipment, mobility and transportation, training institute and others. However, the efforts need to be continued in view of the development and role as well as responsibility of the RBAF which are increasingly challenging either at the national or international level.

To become a modern and capable conventional force, every military training and professional education of the RABF is conducted in a quality, systematic and realistic manner to maintain and enhance the competence level and professionalism of the individual and organisation, and also to ensure the operation's preparedness. In line with its age of more than half a decade, the RBAF has undergone a transformation process in shaping armed forces that is effective, possessing integrity and is dynamic. Throughout its establishment, the RBAF continues to be determined in carrying out the initiative to strengthen the level of recruitment as well as increase the number of officers serving with the RBAF as part of the overall human resource management and development plan.

The RBAF will continue to make progress and be committed with its role in carrying out the defence policy, enhancing the defence capability, improve the defence diplomacy and contribute to nation development. The RBAF also places strong emphasis in maintaining a high standard of discipline and core values such as faith, loyalty, courage and professionalism among its personnel. The RBAF will continue to increase solidarity and military spirit in establishing as well as building an effective operation capacity in upholding the desires of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to build armed forces that is united and prominent in defence.
