BERAKAS, BRUNEI-MUARA

Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) School yesterday hosted its annual inter-house sports day for both secondary and primary level students at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

The guest of honour was Awang Haji Mohammad Hanafi bin Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Diraja Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Abdul Rahman, a member of the YSHHB's Board of Directors.

The morning event kicked off with lots of excitement as students came dressed in their respective team colours while accompanying parents showed their support. A parade led by respective house leaders introduced all four house teams - Brunei-Muara, Tutong, Belait and Temburong.

The event continued with the singing of the national anthem 'Allah Peliharakan Sultan' and the school's song followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and the sports oath taking prior to the official opening of the event by the guest of honour.

Students, from both primary and secondary, level, were later seen demonstrating their physical skills representing their houses in track events which included the 200-metre run, 100-metre run and the relay race.

The event ended with a prize presentation ceremony to the winning houses by the guest of honour.

The annual event highlighted the students' high spirits and sportsmanship where students competed for their houses against their peers with great vigour.

The event sought to promote a healthy and active lifestyle as well as to provide opportunities for developing healthy sportsmanship while polishing the skills of potential athletes.
