Palliative Care Association of Kota Kinabalu Sabah (PCA) paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Musa Aman in conjunction with the 17th Annual Charity Concert and Dinner to raise funds for the PCA Home Care programme.

The funds are meant for patients and their families who are suffering from incurable cancers and end stage organ failures.

PCA and the Sutera Harbour Resort team were led by the president Morna Chua and the organising chairperson Margaret Lim during the visit at the Chief Minister’s official residence in Sri Gaya on Thursday.

Morna briefed Musa on the development and the future plans for PCA which requires continuous financial support and well wishes from the public to enable the Home Care service to be run smoothly.

Dr. Ranjit said that the Home Care had so far benefited more than 2,500 patients and families since 1998 and this seamless continuity of care between the Palliative Care Unit of Queen Elizabeth Hospital and PCA had helped reduce much suffering of the local population who were  in need of the Home Care service.

Victor expressed his sincere appreciation to the Chief Minister for having been the motivator and the pillar for the existence of PCA and its activities and has continuously been giving the moral support to PCA team.

Musa thanked all the volunteers and staff for doing this noble cause for the needy who are in their final journey of their lives.

“I am glad to see such a committed and dedicated team of volunteers, giving their time and effort to those who are not so fortunate,” he said.

He also saluted the guidance and support given by the Patron and Dr. Ranjit.

PCA expressed its utmost gratitude to the Chief Minister for his unfailing support in providing logistics and manpower support from the various ministries in particular the Sabah State Health Services Department and in giving social responsibility in his own personal capacity.

The charity concert which will be held on July 21 will present the Boney M Tribute show featuring one of the original singers Sheyla Bonnick and band members who hailed from the United Kingdom.

PCA will also organise raffle sales in conjunction with the annual fundraising due to the increased annual expenditure for the Home Care Programme which requires about RM650,000 to run the programme.

Also present during the visit were PCA patron Datuk Victor Paul, Medical Adviser cum Medical Consultant Datuk Dr. Ranjit Oommen Mathew, Vice President Rokiah Yacoob, and organising committee members Datin Liza Lee, Aishah Abdullah, Ivy Stanislaus, Elaine Kwan, Amy Lazarus and James Ngu.
