SANDAKAN

The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) will conduct external and desk auditing on 18 legal and architecture firms in Sandakan in a two-day operation yesterday and today.

Sandakan IRB branch director Bacho Abdul Karim said external auditing would be carried out on six companies by having IRB officers to visit the premises to inspect their accounts to ensure that eports of their earnings submitted to the IRB were correct.

“If the inspection detect some inconsistency in their filing, we will advise them to submit the correct report,” he told reporters after launching the ”Operasi Gegar Bersepadu” for IRB Sandakan branch here yesterday.

Bacho said desk auditing involved sending notices to 12 legal and architecture firms which had failed to report earnings to the IRB.

Thirty officers are involved in the operation that covered Sandakan town area to Batu 8 Jalan Labuk.

The operation was done to ensure compliance of the Income Tax Act 1967 and to bring awareness to the companies to file their earnings, with correct information, to the IRB.
