PUTRAJAYA

Government agency Mara and the Health Ministry have joined the Negaraku initiative, which is aimed at further increasing the people’s love for the country.

At a simple ceremony witnessed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, their staff members pledged their commitment towards making the initiative a success.

Then, as a symbolic gesture of their participation, Najib placed Negaraku stickers on two Mara buses and a Health Ministry ambulance.

Mara, which has a fleet of nearly 300 express, stage and other buses under Mara Liner Sdn Bhd, as well as more than 1,700 official vehicles and over 500 administrative centres and institutions of learning, will help promote the initiative via campaigns, slogans and more.

Formed to aid, train and guide bumiputras in areas of business and industry, it sponsors 160,957 students inside and outside the country, among other activities.

It will implement specific programmes for students to inculcate more love and passion for the country, said Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in a statement in conjunction with the ceremony.

The Negaraku initiative will also be extended to 7,228 Mara-assisted business individuals and incorporated into its corporate social responsibility programmes, he added.

The Health Ministry will put the stickers on all its vehicles, while its uniformed staff will be given Negaraku badges to wear.

The ministry will also use #SihatNegaraku as its official hashtag throughout the campaign.

Among those present at the ceremony were Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam, Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak and Mara interim chairman Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob.
