SMSS Students Learned Beyond Classroom Setting

KG JERUDONG, BRUNEI-MUARA

Seri Mulia Sarjana School (SMSS) believes that early childhood education should be filled with fun and excitement aplenty, thereby setting the pace for a child's life-long learning. Embracing this, the SMSS preschool values experiential and multi-sensory means of educating the young minds.

In line with the Sand and Water Unit of KG1, the teachers and parents teamed up to bring learning to a whole new level with an educational trip to the beach.

Dressed in beach attire and armed with pails and shovels, over 100 KG1 children experienced the sand and sea at the Marine Centre of The Empire Hotel & Country Club over the weekend. The sheer heat did little to dampen their spirits.

Once gathered, the objectives for the activities were laid out and they proceeded to their respective groups. The teachers explained concepts related to the unit such as differentiating between wet sand and dry sand, tap water and salt water.

The children also looked at numeracy in a different way as they counted shells and measured water volume.

The overall learning experience was enjoyable as parents and children participated in a host of games, while the venue and activities were perfect for a child's mind to dive into the ocean of learning, to create thousands of waves of joy and laughter, and to expand their perspective of the world.
