Staff and students of Tutong Sixth Form Centre (PTET) were once again treated to a showcase of creative videos at the 13th annual ICT GP competition. As part of the college's Upper Sixth General Paper curriculum, students presented their short films to a panel of judges lead by chief judge, Jean Kiekopf from CfBT.

Over the long history of this competition, PTET students have explored a variety of themes touching on both national and global issues.

This year's theme 'It's a Mad, Mad World' featured films that highlighted the strange and often challenging nature of our modern world. The pieces chosen for the finals encompassed a broad range of subject matter including phone addiction, media deception, plastic surgery, terrorism and modern slavery, according to a press release.

The winning film titled 'Smartphone Madness' by Dayang Maimunah Faizun binti Haji Abdul Rahman, Dayang Mar Rohadatul Aisy Umar and Dayang Nurizyan Hazirah binti Mohd Taib, brought the audience's awareness to our society's increasing dependency on phones and the dangers they pose to our communication skills. The winning team was presented with a cash prize of BND$100 and the second and third place winners receive BND$70 and BND$50 respectively.

Participants stated that the competition has helped them develop their film-making and editing skills, as well as tested their teamwork and creativity. Chief Judge Kiekopf found the presentations 'thought-provoking and entertaining'.

The ICT GP competition was held by the PTET's GP and English Department with the aim of equipping students with marketable 21st Century skills.
